We are sharing some essential things you can do to decrease the feeling of being ovewhelmed and anxious over the war which is now burning in Ukraine.
No, we won’t pretend this is a magic wand which will completely change how you feel or what’s happening in the world currently… but even if these actions look simple, they are important steps of kindness, love and self love which can effectively help you to bring a sense of relief and peace into your body and mind. We hope it will help you to feel more at peace and that this peace will become contagious and spread as a healing power to every human being.

TAKE REGULAR BREAKS FROM NEWS
It’s not a time to stick the head in the sand, but at the same time try to take regular breaks from watching the news. Try not to watch them right after you wake up or before you go to sleep. Set a specific time slot for checking news, for ex. 30 min in the morning, 30 min in the afternoon.
STAY WITH YOUR ROUTINE
Your working schedule, walking the dog, eating, sleeping, exercising… keeping your routine provides you with a sense of grounding and stability. From such a space you can respond to the outside challenge more effectively.
CONNECT & SHARE
Connect with your close ones, check out how they feel, or if they need anything. At the same time, allow yourself to share what you are going through. Especially in challenging times, sharing and knowing that we are loved and connected is so healing!
AVOID CATASTROPHIZING
Remember that the catastrophic future scenarios are only one possible outcome of the situation. Focus on living ‘one day at a time’ for now. you can find more about how to deal with catastrophizing in one of our previous posts.
REMEMBER YOUR BODY
Go for a walk, exercise, try to keep a regular food and sleep routine. Apply healthy strategies such as yoga, breathwork or meditation to ground yourself and clear your system from stress. we hold special guided meditations on Instagram in these days, to help you to get grounded and to release the anxiety.
ACCEPT YOUR FEELINGS
Sadness, fear, anger, feeling overwhelmed or helpless… these all are totally natural reactions to this unprecedented situation. Staying with your feelings and giving them space can be hard but helpful, as it can bring relief. Allow yourself to hear and express what you feel, use your breath, movement or ask the sensation in your body, what does she need. At the same time, remember that ‘this too shall pass…’
OFFER A SUPPORT
Support the Ukraine community – reach out to organisations or check with your friends in Ukraine, if they need some help, if there is any practical thing you can do or just give them the space and listen.
ASK FOR HELP
Don’t hesitate to reach out for help if you feel like it’s too much. There are numerous counsellors, psychotherapists or crisis intervention workers to give you support, so you don’t have to face these challenges alone. we are offering donation based counselling now.
