We are going to share with you a special guided visualisation … and surprise, surprise! … today you will (for the first time!) hear the voice of Vero, guiding you through this little nourishing piece.
Vero is specialised in the world of symbols and visualisations, and today she will share with you a wonderful piece called ‘Stone Flake on the Lake’ based on the original text by Marsha M. Linehan, PhD, ABPP.
It has been created for you to sink deeply into the space within, also called ‘a wise mind’: the source of the deep tranquility and tremendous wisdom that lies within you.
For the coming 5 minutes, make yourself veeeery comfortable, lie down or sit in a meditation posture (whatever is more comfy for you) and enjoy listening to this peace!
We wish you a wonderful experience and that the soothing feeling of connection to your ‘wise mind’ stays with you all day long, whatever you do!
With love, Peter and Vero
ABOUT THE WISE MIND
Marsha M. Linehan, PhD, ABP
“wise mind is like a deep well in the ground. The water at the bottom of the well, the entire underground ocean is wise mind”
Wise mind is the perfect balance between reason and emotion (rational and emotional mind). If you live and act from a Wise Mind, you are able to utilize both reason and emotion, taking the middle path to cultivate emotional sensitivity with a sense of calm, cool collectedness. Depending on the approach, the Wise Mind can also be called the Watcher, the Observer or the Awareness within.
Wise Mind is a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) term, first introduced by the founder of DBT Marsha M. Linehan, PhD, ABPP. This form of therapy introduces a reasonable, emotional and wise mind to describe a person’s thoughts and behaviors. The reasonable mind is driven by logic, the emotional mind is driven by feelings while wise mind is the middle-ground and mediator between the two. In DBT, clients learn to use their wise mind to improve the focus on their decisions and manage their behaviour.
Wise mind is an exceptionally useful skill also in situations where we need some guidance for problems, doubts or confusions that have lingered on in our life. It is the quiet, centred mode of acting and thinking that is flexible and holistic. From this state of being, a relaxed confidence and success flows out.
“… that part of each person that can know and experience truth. It is where the person knows something to be true or valid. It is almost always quiet. It has a certain peace. It is where the person knows something in a centered way.”
Marsha M. Linehan, PhD, ABPP
